Sarah Burns, Ph.D. the Ruth Halls Professor of Fine Arts at Indiana University, will examine the way in which Hudson River School painters reckoned with the problematic aura of femininity that clung to the image of the artist at that time. All lecture guests are invited to a reception and viewing of our current exhibition, "Remember the Ladies: Women of the Hudson River School" immediately following the lecture. Admission is $7, or $5 for members, and is first-come-first-served. The Thomas Cole National Historic Site is located at 218 Spring Street in Catskill, New York, near the west entrance to the Rip Van Winkle Bridge in the Hudson Valley.
