In a Race Brook first, we are proud to announce a three concert residency featuring The Bobby Previte Pocket Orchestra’s re-alchemizing of Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew. In each of these nights of music, Mr. Previte and his ensemble will use Miles’ album as a jumping off place to explore a large-scale sonic conversation, equal parts arranged and improvised with the fattest funkiest freest rhythm pocket around - echoing Miles’ fusionary vision fifty-five years after it's industry-changing recording sessions.

A guided hike with opportunities to practice winter plant identification, look at tracks and other signs to interpret the activities of local fauna, and talk about the historic relationship between local Native People and the land.

Blake Hill of Hussman Hollow Flower Farm will be joined by Sam Calhoun, CLC’s Conservation Programs Manager, to discuss how one landowner’s desire to donate property became an opportunity for affordable farmland. Blake will share more about what’s going on at the farm, while Sam will share more about ways we can all support affordable farmland initiatives in Columbia County.

Diane Swords: "The 'Back from the Brink' Campaign" Diane Swords is a long time anti-nuclear activist organizing public education, legislative and divestment campaigns nationally with Back from the Brink (preventnuclearwar.org); and with Peace Action of New York State, and Syracuse Peace Council. Larry Wittner: "The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons" Larry Wittner is Professor of History Emeritus at SUNY/Albany, a former president of the Peace History Society, and the author of Confronting the Bomb and many other works on nuclear disarmament issues (www.lawrenceswittner.com). Rishi Gurudevan: "Organizing Students for Nuclear Disarmament" Rishi Gurudevan is the founder of Students for Nuclear Disarmament, a national non-partisan 501(c)(3) dedicated to raising awareness among "Gen-Z" about nuclear war, and a senior at Phillips Exeter Academy.

The Jacob Leisler Institute for the Study of Early New York History, in collaboration with the Hudson Area Library, hosts a presentation by BJ Lillis about changing land rights in the colonial Hudson Valley including Indigenous and tenant resistance to a manorial system. This talk traces Indigenous survival and resistance to colonialism on Hudson Valley manors from the early 18th century to the 1760s, when an unlikely alliance between tenant farmers and Native people organized tenant uprisings, rent strikes, and coordinated legal action against Hudson Valley landlords.
