Hosted by various prospective WGXC volunteer programmers.

"Interwoven" is a radio program focused on connecting and showcasing music through rhythm. Attempting to go beyond the idea of rhythm simply being just a drumbeat or a repeating pattern, this program's main goal is to take listeners through various rhythm-based journeys and highlight all the ways that music connects people around the world while simultaneously demonstrating what makes different genres/styles and cultures so unique and special.

Episode focus and themes can range anywhere from:

  • deep-dives into a specific rhythmic pattern and discussing the history, cultural significance, and other aspects of the featured rhythm
  • connecting otherwise unlikely music through the shared rhythmic aspects such as drum patterns, time signatures, rhythmic motifs, rhythmic construction of melodic/harmonic content, tempos/tempo changes, song forms, production/recording style, pure vibes, etc
  • embarking on a journey into a chosen type of music (grouped by style/genre/music scene, functionality/purpose, regional proximity, etc) while taking breaks to discuss the rhythmic aspects of such, ponder the patterns that have become ubiquitous with said music, discover the roots of the associated rhythms, and posit on how these tendencies may have changed or stayed static over the years
  • occasionally featuring guests such as musicians, DJ artists, soundscape/sound-collage artists, sound healers, music therapists, etc to join the program and discuss the rhythmic aspects of what they do and/or what they might like to listen to

Hosted by Josh Towers, a Hudson Valley-based musician (multi-instrumentalist, composer), stonemason, occasional showrunner/sound engineer, part time nerd, and full time dad. A New York native born in Queens to a Jewish-American father and a Haitian-American mother, he grew up in New Paltz for the most part and cut his teeth on the local music scenes there and in the surrounding towns (Kingston, Rosendale, Woodstock, etc). He and his better half are currently raising their two beautiful children in the hamlet of Acra.

"Auditions" features prospective WGXC volunteer programmers trying out their proposed radio programs on air for listener feedback.
