At 4:30 p.m., the band the Black Swans will be in the Hudson studio. At 5 p.m., Cindy Andrus, Head Start Director and Sophie Becker, Hudson Family Literacy Director will be in the Hudson studio. COI-Head Start provides comprehensive preschool services to 146 children in classrooms and home in the Hudson, Chatham, Ichabod Crane, and Taconic Hills School Districts. Through partnerships with parents, school districts and community organizations, children and their families are given a “Head Start’ in getting ready for school. COI Head Start also provides Universal Pre-Kindergarten services to four years olds in the Taconic Hills School District. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2012-13 Head Start program year starting in September. The Hudson Family Literacy is a unique partnership of Columbia Opportunities, Inc. and the Hudson City School District. A combination of early childhood classes, parent education, after school activities, Family Night Programs, and literacy services are provided to nearly 40 families with over 60 children.
