Friday Afternoon Show with Simone Stevens: Nicki Wilson and Jared Widjeskog
90.7-FM in NY's Upper Hudson Valley and wgxc.org/listen everywhere
http://www.wgxc.org/
Hosted by Simone Stevens.
This week Simone chats with Nicki Wilson, festival director of Trifest International Youth Film Festival, which lands at Time and Space Limited in Hudson July 24-26, it will bring with it a remarkably global vision for a festival only in its second year: 84 short films by emerging filmmakers age 25 and younger, representing voices from 29 countries.
Also, fellow WGXC host of The Sugar Shack Jukebox (every Friday, 12 pm-2 pm) and neighborJared Widjeskog.
After the news at noon, "The Sugar Shack Jukebox" brings decades of funk, R&B, rock, pop, psych, soul, reggae, hip hop, worldwide jams, and more; studio and live cuts, instrumentals, rarities, and album tracks alongside well-loved classics. "The Sugar Shack Jukebox’s" spontaneous and musical bent caters to the heads while keeping it fun for casual listeners of all ages.
Simone sits down with local artists, community members, and the occasional "far off folks" who have a connection to the Hudson Valley area. Together, Simone and her guests ponder how life paths veer from the traditional or stick to it, or the dance between both. What is a traditional life path anyway, and does it even exist the way it once did? Each guest's own ride will also inspire a new topic every show. Settle in with a cup of coffee, tea, or bourbon and join us in the conversation.
Simone Stevens is a Hudson Valley-based voice actor and musician who, at times, plays in the visual arts realm as well (she can be found at the farmers market some days happily selling her and her mom's ceramic art tiles). She is also an educator, working as a teaching artist with the Ancram Theatre and coaching voice-over and storytelling. She can be seen around the Hudson Valley enjoying all the nature and the creative community that thrives here.
