What happens when a piano goes off the rails, a trumpet splits in two, and a modular synthesizer conjures sounds with no apparent source? In Hans Castrup’s world, nothing stays in place. Sounds collide, shed their identities and emerge as something unexpected.

A German painter, photographer and musician, Castrup has explored sound since recording on a Synthi AKS in 1982. He cuts, layers and reassembles acoustic instruments, electronic textures and field recordings, resisting the comfort of a signature style.

Released on labels including Karlrecords, Attenuation Circuit and Mahorka, his work offers no map and no easy resolution. The familiar turns strange, accidents acquire their own logic, and listening becomes an act of discovery. Nothing is quite what it seems.

"Modulisme," formerly "Early ElectroMIX," is a platform that aims to support original composing for analog modular systems but not only… A radio program airing music made using modular systems… Each program lasts one hour and is especially dedicated to one composer and features some exclusive music made for us.
