Hannah Marks performs with Hudson Valley band Up and Orange opening at The Avalon Lounge in Catskill on Feb. 16. Marks calls in to preview the show at 6:15 p.m. Marks is a bassist, bandleader, composer, and educator living in New York City. As a bandleader, she has performed at several major festivals, including the Detroit Jazz Festival, Hyde Park Jazz Festival, 80-35 Music Festival, Iowa City Jazz Festival, and Indy Jazz Festival. Her current groups as a leader are Hannah Marks: Outsider, Outlier, a genre-defying, lyric-based project, and the Hannah Marks Quartet. She is a frequent sideman with Geoffrey Keezer, Ingrid Jensen, Kalia Vandever, Matt Wilson, Ted Nash, Morgan Guerin, and Marcus Printup, and has performed at heralded NYC venues like Birdland Jazz Club, The 55 Bar, The Stone, and The Jazz Gallery.

Justin Maiman from WGXC's "Ginger Radio Hour" speaks with Kinderhook-based still-life painter Fern Apfel, who focuses on remnants of the past, including diary pages, letters, books, and illuminated manuscripts. The conversation took place at Apfel's solo exhibition of paintings in the Main Gallery of the Art Center of the Capital Region in Troy. The show runs through February 25.
