Wave Farm welcomes two new residents this month:

Zach Poff + N.B. Aldrich (June 9-22, 2013)
Poff and Aldrich's project will pursue emergent phenomenon in the Wave Farm’s hidden soundscape, translating atmospheric radio, underwater sound, and tiny natural vibrations into outdoor sculptures that encourage listeners to consider the unexpected results of our relationships with each other and our environment.

Lead by Poff and Aldrich, participants will make inexpensive hydrophones, contact mics, and similar small "sensors," to plug into attendee's own portable recorders or smartphones. Pre-registration is required.

Zach Poff and N.B.Aldrich speak with host Tom Roe about their work, as well as a special playlist created by Poff and Aldrich focusing on sounds beyond the limits of perception.

Redux (June 24-30, 2013)
A network of three recursive audio feedback sub-systems will be used to construct the performance. These systems include short wave loop antenna hardware, low power AM transmission, and the unique opportunity afforded by the Wave Farm residency, access to the full-power signal of WGXC 90.7-FM.

Curator and writer Manuel Cirauqui's new monthly program premieres Monday, June 3, 2013 at 1 a.m. Symposium is a program about lectures and other related modes of critical discourse, presented with a strong focus on contemporary art and critique. The program uses radio as a creative device for mediation, reproduction, re-contextualization, and commentary.

Low-Power Hour
Hosted by Carl Blare.
Airs (some) Fridays, 4 a.m.
This weekly program focuses on legal low power radio broadcasting, as permitted by governing agencies in many countries, and in the United States allowed through the FCC's Part 15 rules and regulations.

Special Opportunity for Support

Technical Assistance
for Digital Conversion Planning
Application Deadline: TODAY
(June 1, 11:59 p.m.)

New York State Media Art organizations are encouraged to submit requests for support of up to $2,000, in order to hire consultants who will help assess and plan for organizational digital conversion needs, and/or research options and recommendations for strategic conversion. Organizations may also apply for support to travel within New York State to visit facilities that already have made this conversion.

This opportunity is meant to serve the NYS media arts community at large and will entertain proposals relating to a variety of Digital Conversion Planning issues and needs. Proposals may include, but are not limited to, planning and research for equipment conversion for film houses as well as collection management and equipment planning for all sub-genres of the media arts.

The Media Arts Technical Assistance Fund is a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, Electronic Media and Film administered by free103point9.
