The Canadian Space Agency turned on a web camera in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories Sept. 20 last year, to raise awareness of the science of the Aurora Borealis as folks watch worldwide. It's partnership between the University of Calgary, the city of Yellowknife, Astronomy North, and the Canadian Space Agency. Sun spots create geomagnetic storms which in turn, put on dazzling aurora displays, like after last week's storms. Next year their should be maximum sun spots on the current 11-year cycle.
