Written in 1907 this is an American fairytale told in an european style about an orphan who is adopted by an elderly seamstress. As the girl grows up she becomes like a daughter to the seamstress helping with chores and such. There is an old oak tree that says, cynically, that the grown up girl will become ungrateful.
