PS 122’s intimate Hallway Gallery presents an urban-pastoral diorama by artist and Dust Dive vocalist/lyricist/sound-collagist Bryan Zimmerman. The installation will be accompanied by an “unmastered closet world premiere” of The Dust Dive’s second album. Recorded in an apartment on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn by Sebadoh veteran Jason Loewenstein (who also plays drums on the recording) and Patrick McCarthy, the group’s second major work is a warm and plaintive exploration of American “backwater hypno-geography,” from the Arkansas wilderness to Brooklyn’s Gowanus lowlands. Zimmerman's intricate environment is designed as a “delivery landscape” for the music, and for the places and stories within. The album is scheduled for release overseas in September 2007 as a multimedia enhanced CD (including video and extensive album art) by the Luxembourg-based imprint Own Records. Domestic release TBA.
