Whereas the Internet has been part of public debates since the mid nineties, satellites, which provide the backbones of todays global media infrastructure, figure low on the agenda of international governance, national politics and media research.
The conference brings together leading international academics, key policy makers and industry representatives with a view to setting off a much-needed dialogue on the satellite challenges that Europe faces today.
Four panels address the themes: Satellite Industry and the Digital Age; Diversity and Diaspora: Arab Communities in Europe; New Spaces of Democracy; and Governance of Global Information Flows,
