Radio headlines include a report from Free Speech Radio News about cyberwarfare in Syria, as the state targets protesters online there. Then we feature the Videofreex, a pirate television video collective born in Manhattan as a way for CBS television to infiltrate and report on hippie culture. The video results the group created were too weird for CBS, but got the attention of Abbie Hoffman, who funded their efforts. They moved to Lanesville, in Greene County, New York in the early 1970s, forming "Lanesville TV," what they call the first pirate television station. "Turn On the News" talks to Joe Nolan, a filmmaker putting together a documentary about the Videofreex.
