August Black Wave Farm Artist-in-Residence (Video)

Jun 28, 2015

The Wave Farm Residency Program is pleased to welcome August Black (Oakland, CA). His Hearhere My Fellow Peer is a user-centric radio application that allows multiple users to input short segments of sound to an FM station live from their browsers or cell phones. An evocation of Bertolt Brecht’s utopian two-way radio, Black’s application is an experiment in building a democratic and interactive environment where users can connect to all participants, as well as the main FM radio output. The app makes use of new HTML5 capabilities such as WebRTC and web sockets, and will provide each user with visual feedback so that they can "see" and hear the other participants in the experiment.
