WGXC Afternoon Show: The Conduction Series, Wendy Burch (Audio)

Jun 03, 2022

In the first hour, artists, educators, and students from CU Boulder, UC Santa Cruz, SUNY Buffalo, and the WGXC FM listening area come together to create a monthly live radio series using the platform “Mezcal” developed by August Black.

In the second hour, in the wake of mass murders, those who consider the private ownership of military arsenals a hallmark of freedom are quick to blame mental illness for the problem. National Alliance on Mental Illness NYS Executive Director Wendy Burch talks with WOOC's Cathy Silber about the challenges this poses for those with mental illness, their families and society as a whole. www.naminys.org/

The show features local news, interviews with community leaders and personalities, a rundown of local and regional events, weather updates, and more about and for the community. The show is a place for a community conversation about issues, with music, and more. Saturday the emphasis is more on radio art, and art on the radio. Unlike shows by individual programmers on the station, the "WGXC Afternoon Show" is considered partially station-run. The Sunday version calls itself "Li Le, Le Tan."
