Seth Chrisman & Laura Kuhn, “From Whence Do Budding Mycologists Come?” (Audio)

Oct 07, 2018
Organized by The John Cage Trust. Recorded and streamed by Wave Farm.

Wrapping up an afternoon of presentations by master mycologists, Laura Kuhn will engage Bard’s own Seth Chrisman in conversation about the latest breed of fungi enthusiasts to emerge from the Hudson Valley. Seth is an avid budding mycologist, but he’s also a composer, cyclist, maker of tinctures, hiker, listener, gardener, baker, forager, milker of cows, performer, and fermentationist. And he occasionally taps maple trees. Is something afoot here?

John Cage was an enthusiastic mycologist who expressed his interest in fungi in his music, his text compositions, and his visual art works, as well as in his lifelong mushroom collecting and identification activities. Organized by the John Cage Trust, John Cage Mycology Day, was a one-day event, featuring a mushroom walk and afternoon presentations, that celebrate Cage's passion for mushrooms and his multifarious contributions to mycology.
