Jan 20, 2012
Hosted by Christina Malisoff and Kieran Riley.
Hosts Christina Malisoff and Kieran Riley speak with Kathy Manley, Vice President of the New York Civil Liberties Union (NCYLU) about the recently-passed National Defense Authorization Act, which includes controversial provisions authorizing the military to jail anyone it coisiders a terrorism suspect without charge or trial.

In the second half-hour of the program, Tell It Like It Is features an episode of "Corporate Power in Elections": Adam Skaggs (Brennan Center for Justice, NYU School of Law) discusses the role of Citizens United in Judicial Selection; Ben Manski (Liberty Tree) and Lisa Graves (Center for Media and Democracy) discuss the "March to Overrule the Court". Citizens United v Federal Election Commission, (2010), was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court holding that corporate funding of independent political broadcasts in candidate elections cannot be limited under the First Amendment.
