Nothing Is Real Radio Hour: Ultra Real Cronenberg Remix (Audio)

Oct 29, 2016
Created by Sam Sebren.

This edition of the Nothing Is Real Radio Hour features the premiere of a radio theatre collage made using hundreds of clips of characters' dialogue from 8 different movies by Canadian film director David Cronenberg. Mixed with field recordings and electronic soundtracks made by NIRRH creator Sam Sebren, the result is a new, quasi narrative "movie" that blurs reality in search of some new level of truth. Obtuse money issues, political conspiracies, drugs, dreams and hallucinations, technology, our bodies, and psychological examinations are all melded together using Cronenberg's ouevre as a jumping off point into some whole other abyss of mysterious characters and sounds living in a transmogrified reality that questions its own existence.

"Because of our necessity to impose our own structure of perception on things, we look at ourselves as being relatively stable. But, in fact, when I look at a person I see this maelstrom of organic, chemical, and electron chaos; volatility and instability, shimmering, and the ability to change and transform and transmute." David Cronenberg, on his characters' transformations

NIRRH celebrates 5 years to the day (October 29, 2010) of broadcasts on Wave Farm's Transmission Arts programming - thank you so much for listening!
