Richie's work focuses on the ways that race and ethnicity and social position affect women's experiences around violence and incarceration. She focuses on the experiences of African American battered women and survivors of sexual assault. Richie is the author of "Arrested Justice: Black Women, Violence and America’s Prison Nation."
