Itinerant Mind: A Composition in Two Halves (Laced) (Audio)
The first Itinerant Mind for 2018 is based around Annie Morrad’s score for artist Andrew Bracey’s film "Lace Works." Bracey commissioned ten musicians to write the sound track to his film. The film "Lace Works" is part of the exhibition "Bummock: The Lace Archive" which is the result of a residency that researched unseen parts of the Lace Archives as catalysts for the creation of new artworks by artists, Andrew Bracey, Danica Maier and Lucy Renton.
"Lace Works” is currently showing at Backlit Gallery in Nottingham UK http://backlit.org.uk/
More details about the "Bummock: The Lace Archive” exhibition can be seen at the following link: https://www.ntu.ac.uk/about-us/events/events/2018/01/bummock-the-lace-archive-exhibition
Reformulations of Annie’s original composition/score titled “Laced" for the film are presented here in two parts: the first features Annie and Ian McArthur improvising to the digital recording of the score; the second part is an improvisation on the composition featuring Ben Foster (bass), Suzie Clements (vocals), Mark Connor Atkinson and Edward Felix Sargisson (piano). In both parts we play our usual roles - Annie (sax) and Ian (electronics, guitars, field recordings, processing).
