Infinite Contact: A Kenny and Company Halloween Special (Audio)

Oct 30, 2024

Every X-mas we went over to my aunt's house on my dad's side. We didn't talk with that side of the family much, but I liked them. My cousin John was older and a computer wizard and he had a souped up computer that he got from working at Egghead Software, where the components often fell off the back of the truck. My uncle Steve had a satellite dish so he could watch the raw feeds of shows. For some reason he also made a tiny pond in his backyard and put up an electrical fence to protect the pond, but the fence shocked literally everyone, including Steve. But he didn't take it down because he got a kick out of it when guests and kids got hurt at his house. My grandma who smoked into her eighties always gave us fifty dollar bills. Sweet.

The only weird part was these cousins named Toby and Paul. Toby was about a million years old, and his son Paul was like 50 and lived with Toby. Paul was an odd one. For X-mas one year he gave my brother and me a VHS cassette that he'd taped off the TV of a movie called Kenny and Company. He said it was one of his favorites. And it had a few bad words. He was super excited for us to have Kenny and Company.

We watched Kenny and Company. Incessantly. First as a joke. It was a low budget after school movie with a lot of rough edges. And it had a bit of pederast vibe. But Kenny and Company aged like fine wine. I made all my friends watch it, and it was my test I'd give any new people I started dating. If they could hang with Kenny and Co., we could hang.

It's a halloween movie. But it's about so much more. It's a masterpiece.

This is my homage to Kenny and all his friends. With synth moves.
