Catskill Cabin Conversations: Washington Irving (Audio)

May 21, 2019
Our guest this month is Washington Irving, an important historical individual from the Hudson Valley. Washington Irving was born in 1783 in New York City and died in 1859 in Tarrytown, NY. Hailed as the "Father of American Literature", his works include the short stories “Rip Van Winkle” (1819) and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” (1820), biographies of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and George Washington, and histories of 15th century Spain. (He served as America's ambassador to Spain from 1842 to 1846.) On each show, invited guests are asked to discuss a number of items that they would take with them to their Catskill Cabin get-away. As Mike and Andy discuss their chosen items, it is intended that you, the listener, will enjoy getting to know each guest that little bit better.
