The Jazz Disturbance: Sakoto Fujii (Audio)

Dec 30, 2018
In pianist and composer Sakoto Fujii’s native Japan, reaching the age of 60 is traditionally so important that there’s a special word for the milestone—“kanreki”. It’s a moment to remember life’s accomplishments and to put former troubles behind you. Rather than using her kanreki year to look back at a remarkably prolific career of more than 30 years, Fujii [has produced] one new release per month, featuring new works for current projects, debuting special projects, and introducing new working bands.” During this program we’ll listen to selections from Fujii’s 2018 oeuvre of work. Hosted by Cheryl K.

A show featuring jazz and other improvisational music from local, regional, world-wide and world-class artists. The Jazz Disturbance airs live interviews and in-studio performances and connects listeners with the people and places presenting America's "classical" music in the area. Live from Hudson, NY on WGXC (90.7-FM) and Standing Wave Radio (1620-AM).
