This edition features the stunningly imaginative guitarist and composer Mary Halvorson in concert excerpts recorded at Roulette between 2013-19. Coming from jazz roots, and extending the vocabulary with both power and electronics, hear solos, duos, and ensemble compositions and improvisations with collaborators Brandon Seabrook, Michael Formanek, Tomas Fujiwara, and John Dietrich. In recent Downbeat Critics Polls Halvorson has been celebrated as guitarist, rising star jazz artist, composer of the year, and in 2019 she was awarded a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship.
