Overlooked: New Releases - The Long and the Short of It (Audio)

Mar 12, 2024
This live broadcast from Overlook Mountain focuses on new releases, but starts with a re-issued track that's nearly 60 years old -- by Ornette Coleman, whose music always sounds new, and whose March 9 birthday is just three days before this show. After that introductory celebration, “Overlooked” host Rob Saffer spins 15 new releases split evenly between long and short tracks, the short ones bridging the longer ones. Most pieces are brand new, some are re-issues, and span the usual wide variety of styles and genres: jazz, Cumbia, percussive experiments, the all-out excess of Horse Lords, and more.
