Paul Smart and Lisa Phillips lead a workshop exploring the ways in which rural populations' news needs are met. Lisa Phillips, who teaches journalism and radio reporting at the State University of New York at New Paltz, is the author of Public Radio: Behind the Voices; she has served as a reporter on WAMC-FM and written for the New York Times and Boston Globe. Paul Smart, who serves on WGXC Radio Council, has been a newspaper editor and reporter in the Catskills/Hudson Valley region for more than 20 years.
