Donald Drumpf Theatre Vol. 210 Goodbye, Farewell, Amen (Audio)

Jan 21, 2021
Produced by Tom Roe.
Vol. 210 Goodbye, Farewell, Amen. This week our hero leaves stage right.

Thanks this week for the songs from "The Sound of Music" ("So Long, Farewell"), The Doors ("The End"), Amy Rigby ("Four Years of U"), Randy Rainbow ("Seasons of Trump"), Shellac ("The End of Radio"), The Beatles ("The End"), Vera Lynn ("We'll Meet Again"), "M*A*S*H Theme ("Suicide is Painless"), and Golden Earring ("Twilight Zone"). Clips and excerpts from Rod Serling; Rudy Giuliani; Cartman; Richard Nixon; Hawkeye Pierce and B.J. Hunnicutt from "M*A*S*H;" J.L. Cauvin; Mika Brzezinski; Willie Geist; "The Jimmy Kimmel Show;" Stephen Colbert; Seth Meyers; Henry Hill from "Goodfellas;" Anthony Atamanuik from "The President Show;" Jerry Seinfeld and Kramer from "Seinfeld;" and Orson Welles. An original radio theatre show each week, with most sounds culled from the previous week, about a fictional, theatrical presidency. Contradictions tell the story, with songs, skits, and clips from political news shows and late-night comedy routines. The definition of "radio theatre" is stretched here, with an updated Dickie Goodman and/or Richard Foreman-meets-mashup style sometimes, and a more straightforward take other weeks. Currently airing on 30 or 40 stations around the world, the network has cancelled the show. A new show, "Turn on the News," takes its place next week, in the same time slot, with a similar sound and approach, though about a fictional radio network.
