A broadcast of "The U.S. and Iran: Between War and Diplomacy," by Iran expert Trita Parsi, recorded live at the New York State Writers Institute on the University at Albany campus, Nov. 19. Parsi is a Washington-based policy expert. He is the founder and president of the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) and an expert on US-Iranian relations, Iranian foreign politics and the geopolitics of the Middle East. He is the author of Treacherous Alliance: The Secret Dealings of Iran, Israel and the United States, the silver medal winner of the 2008 Arthur Ross Book Award from the Council on Foreign Relations. Parsi is the 2010 recipient of the Grawemeyer Award for Ideas Improving World Order. Parsi's most recent book, A Single Roll of the Dice - Obama's Diplomacy with Iran,/ was released in early 2012. Parsi’s visit to the Capital District was sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute, Women Against War, Fellowship of Reconciliation and the UUP Peace and Justice Committee.
