Wheelabrator, a national incinerator company with 25 locations in the U.S. and U.K., has proposed the creation of a large new ash dump in an old quarry to dispose of incinerator ash. They are in the process of applying for permits from the NY Dept. of Environmental Conservation. A new coalition of environmental and community groups detailed their opposition to the proposal and called on Catskill Town Supervisor Doreen Davis to reject the ash dump during a press conference, held in the Legislature Office Building in Albany on April 15, 2019.
