In this broadcast, a conversation with Ricky Riccardi, Louis Armstrong archivist and Director of Research Collections for the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Queens, NY. Riccardi has written the liner notes for the newly released box set, The Complete Louis Armstrong Columbia and RCA Victor Studio Sessions, 1946 to 66, on Mosaic Records. The seven-CD boxed set features all 29 of Armstrong’s 1946-1947 RCA recordings, paired with three classic albums and singles from the Columbia label, creating an intimate portrait of Armstrong, the All Stars, and producer George Avakian at work in the studios. Released on April 10, the limited-edition box set is available at www.mosaicrecords.com. The interview was recorded on April 7.
