An excerpt from Democracy Now! during which David Harvey discusses the "Right to The City," followed by a conversation between Harvey and WGXC host Sara Kendall, recorded at the "Free University" that took place in Madison Park Square in New York City on May 1. David Harvey is a geographer and social theorist, and the distinguished professor of anthropology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). Harvey is the author of "Rebel Cities: From the Right to the City to the Urban Revolution," and a leading proponent of the idea of "the right to the city". Kendall and Harvey discuss the concept of the right to the city in a rural context.
