Rebecca Cleman

Rebecca Cleman is the Director of Distribution of Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI). Since joining EAI in the year 2000, she has programmed many screenings devoted to the history of video art for the New York Underground Film Festival; Smack Mellon, Brooklyn; Union Cinema, Milwaukee; Anthology Film Archives; and ISSUE Project Room, among others. In the winter of 2007, she traveled to arts institutions in Warsaw, Krakow, Gdansk, and Posnan, Poland with a survey of video from the EAI collection and a discussion of the emergence of video art in New York City. In October 2007, with Elizabeth Kessenides, Attorney at Law, she organized a panel addressing copyright in the art world. She has also participated in panels hosted by the New School (“The Aesthetics of Transition: Building Cultural Spaces for New Media Works,” 2005) and Orchard Gallery (“On the Collapse and Proliferation of the Moving Image,” 2006). In March 2008 she was a panelist for “Moving/Images: Preserving Downtown Time-Based Works,” organized by The Fales Library of NYU. She is currently organizing a collaboration between EAI and The Fales Library for the preservation and distribution of unavailable works by the performance artist Stuart Sherman.
