The Nothing Is Real Radio Hour: Transmittal (Audio)

Jun 30, 2012
Hosted by Sam Sebren.

"The Nothing Is Real Radio Hour," created by Sam Sebren, includes sound and transmission arts works by Sebren as well as works by other artists, both pre-recorded and performed live in the studio. This month (June 30, 2012 at 2 p.m.), tune into WGXC 90.7-FM for reflections on "Transmittal," a recent exhibition at the Greene County Council of the Arts' Catskill, NY Gallery. During the first half hour, listeners will hear a recording Sebren made at the exhibition by going around the room and recording a snippet from each artist's work. Sebren provides listeners with a simulated experience of visiting the exhibit, including street sounds and extraneous room conversations. During the 2nd half hour of NIRRH, Sebren presents sounds recorded at a Build your own Radio Synthesizer Workshop given by artist Phillip Stearns in conjunction with the exhbition. Tune in to vicariously experience both recent events. Click here for more information about the exhibition "Transmittal," curated by Galen Joseph-Hunter and featuring transmission-based sound and video works by Brett Ian Balogh, Max Goldfarb, Sam Sebren, Maria Papadomanolaki, Phillip Stearns, as well as selections from two recent international radio art exhibitions: Radio Arts Space (Ljubljana, Slovenia), and Radio Boredcast (Newcastle, UK).
