An Evening of Music and Dance at Chez Bushwick

Aug 25, 2005: 8pm- 11pm
Chez Bushick

304 Boerum St, #23, | Brooklyn, NY

Ten experimental artists from New York, Philadelphia and Argentina perform three pieces based in improvisation.
The collaborative ensemble Loophole has been performing together since 1999. Tonight they will premiere SuperStrings, a new score developed by choreographer/performers Estelle Woodward, Corrina Bouthilette, Alison Robinson and Elizabeth Ward, with percussionist Jeff Arnal. These artists share a dynamic and vocabulary that has been cultivated over time, and is rooted in the performance of improvisation. Their work is an ongoing experiment in the synthesis of impulse and non-linear structure that evolves out of the purity of music and dance existing in a space together. Nicole Bindler will perform in Quartet, an improvisation with Leonel Kaplan (Trumpet), Sean Meehan (Percussion), and Bhob Rainey (Soprano Saxophone, Electronics). This quartet has never performed together in this particular configuration (though several have performed together before). It promises to be a long, generous piece with with no preparation whatsoever. No one knows what will happen.
