Class description: "Performance art has a long and interesting history of experimentation with recording technologies. This course will offer an opportunity to experiment with various presentation platforms and recording technologies to understand their relationship to performance art. We will work with mnemonic devices, photography, video, radio transmission and live video streaming to the internet. Students will develop their own projects and will view and discuss performance documents. Several sessions will involve training in building radio stations to broadcast audio performances, and using live video stream to the internet to exploit the web as a performance venue. Guest technicians from free103point9, a non-profit transmission arts organization run by audio artists, and from Drazen Pantic, director of internet services at Location 1, will lead workshops during the course."
