Greenhorn Radio: Charmaine Slaven (Audio)

Dec 26, 2011
Hosted by Severine von Tscharner Fleming.
Charmaine Slaven lives in Seattle, WA and is the co-founder of the Seattle Farm Co-op, a member-owned retail feed store serving Seattle's urban farming community. She makes her living playing old-time music in her band, The Tallboys, and calling square dances, one of which was a mixer on Vashon a couple of years ago for the Young Farmer's Coalition. She grew up on a hobby farm in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana, and started dabbling in urban farming in Seattle in 2005. Since then, she's attempted urban farming projects ranging from keeping chickens to herding sheep. She believes in building community through old-time music, dance, and farming.
