A program featuring Haitian-born electronic music artist Val Jeanty, recorded in a collaborative performance with fire dancer Ra Nubi, at Roulette on 22 May 2017. Jeanty, a virtuoso percussionist, master of the DJ tool set, and wildly creative composer of montage, creates an esoteric experience that “tantalizes the subconscious while effecting a healing cosmic frequency.” Granddaughter of a voudou priestess, Jeanty synergistically combines acoustic with electronic instruments and the archaic with the postmodern, engaging African/Haitian musical traditions with the present and beyond.
