Mother Ann Lee shattered 18th century gender conventions when she became the leader of a small, but vocal, fledgling religious community. Her fearless public preaching and strong leadership was a shock to most of her contemporaries. SHS Education Director Samantha Saladino will discuss Lee’s life, her radical religious convictions, and early Shaker life in Revolutionary America. This program will be presented at the Saratoga National Historic Park as part of their Women’s History Month programming. Please call the battlefields for more information: (518) 664-9821 x224.
