Sights, Sounds, Devices and Other Fascinations by David Hebb, Leah Rico and Sophi Kravitz. Opening reception: Saturday, January 8, 5-7pm. KMOCA presents three unique artists whose individual works combine to redefine our sense of the space around us. David Hebb's video installation "Metaphase" documents a series of precarious moments at the crossroads of nature and technology, a meditation on the impermanence of structures and the workings of decay. Hebb's work has been exhibited internationally. Professional highlights include a Fulbright fellowship in Iceland. Leah Rico creates audio installations which examine the relationships between site and sound, exploring how the act of listening helps us to understand our location. Rico's work has been featured in galleries throughout the country. She is a teacher at RPI. Sophi Kravitz invents devices which convert natural occurrences into digital events. Her current project uses random background radiation hits to trigger music and light. A sculptor since her school days, Kravitz works professionally as an engineer. [A photo of her radiation converter is included with this announcement.] Sights, Sounds & Devices will be on display through January 29. Hours: Saturdays, 12 to 4pm, or by appointment.
