Organized by the New York State Council on the Arts, Electronic Media and Film, in collaboration with the Jacob Burns Film Center, Cinema Arts Centre, Milestone Film & Video, and Wave Farm, the July 10, 2013 Digital Conversion Convening was the first in series of discussions on the impact of Digital Conversion and independent media, film and technology as an art form. Representatives from all New York State media arts organizations, and related stakeholders, were invited to attend.

This first discussion focused on the impact of Digital Conversion on independent cinemas, and worked to address the following questions: What is Digital Conversion? How is it affecting programming? Who has to transition and who can afford to wait? We will also look at requirements for conversion, cost and the future of 35mm film.
