Antigone Image

Antigone Image. Courtey the Greek Tragedy players. (Nov 28, 2015)

Created by John Cleater, Brian Dewan, David Garland, Andrea Kleine, Bobby Previte, Karen Schoemer, Rebecca Wolff, and more.

Rebroadcast from Nov. 28, 2015.

For Thanksgiving, "Greek Tragedy" brings you a family drama, "Antigone," by Sophocles.

"Greek Tragedy" reads aloud the great sad plays that were rescued from the fire that destroyed the library of Alexandria. Yes, you killed your father, married your mother, committed murder to spite your ex, you are psychic but no one believes you and the future only holds destruction and misery, you stand up to authority but everyone dies in the end anyway, you are conquered and vanquished, you destroy all things for a flimsy ideal, you make bad decisions, you kid yourself that you are living in a democracy.

Paired with news items from the contemporary crisis in Greece and the ongoing demise of the planet, and featuring live music and sound effects, "Greek Tragedy" is brought to you by John Cleater, Brian Dewan, Stephanie Fleischmann, David Garland, Andrea Kleine, Bobby Previte, Karen Schoemer, Rebecca Wolff, and many special guests. Translation by George Theodoridis.
