Malte Jaspersen

Malte Jaspersen (Kyoto, Japan) was born and raised in Germany where he studied law and theater. Until 1986 he was member of the international theater group, "Drugie Studio Wroclawskie" in Poland. One year later he founded the theater project "Kuppel & Jaspersen" which toured Europe and Japan. In 1989 Jaspersen moved to Kyoto where he studied Noh theater and Noh mask carving from the master player Michishige Udaka. Still at home in Kyoto, he has produced several major documentaries for German public broadcasters, including work on water, geishas and Japanese comics.
